Ice Blocking

Well, it's pretty hard to find sledding opportunities here in AZ. Yes, we can drive up to Payson or Flagstaff, but that's not really convenient. One substitute that works really well here is ice blocking. One big advantage of ice blocking over sledding is that you don't get nearly as cold. One disadvantage is that if you fall off your ice block, there's no soft pillow of snow to fall into!

There is a park near our house with a great smooth hill. When Tyler and Angie came down to visit, we took the kids over to hit the slope. When we got to the park, there were already about 30 people sliding down the hill. One kid was using a furniture dolly- and he really got some speed. Some kids were even sliding on cardboard, which surprisingly worked really well.

It was a lot of fun, and a lot of good exercise getting back up the hill for another run. Of course Tyler had the most fun thinking of creative ways to go down the hill. He liked to use multiple blocks of ice and multiple people in various configurations. Most of his ideas worked- at least the crashes didn't cause any injuries!

Merry Christmas from Max

This is why you should never get a dog. Argh! I only spent 45 minutes in line to customize the perfect assortment of delicious chocolates. And I did NOT do that for the dog :( By the way, I always heard that chocolate was poisonous for dogs. I think that myth is debunked.

Anyone want to adopt a dog for Christmas? I know one that's available.

Mesa Temple Lights

We went with Jill to see the Mesa Temple lights. It was mobbed and we could barely walk around. The lights were beautiful! Thanks for the tour, Jill!

Happy Halloween!

I know, I know. I'm late. But I still wanted to post these fun pics. The 12yo is a Cardinals player, the 10yo is a mage, and the 7yo is a zombie doctor.

Here are our terrifying jack-o-lanterns. Aren't you terrified even just seeing them?

A fun Christmas sing to sing along with the Family!

To the tune of "Jingle Bells" (more or less) as sung by the 7yo.

Dashing through the snow,
on a pair of broken skis.
Over the hills we go,
hitting into trees!
The snow is turning red,
I think I must be dead.
9-1-1, 9-1-1,
help is on the way.
I woke up in the hospital
with stitches in my head.
Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells,
How much fun it is to ride
on a pair of broken skis, OH!

Christmas Fest

SNOW, well kinda. Our neighborhood has a winter festival and somehow it snows every year. Its strange that the snow falls all in one spot.
They had cotton candy, popcorn, and hot chocolate. And best of all... FREE! The boys were in heaven. We also attended the dance program for a bunch the little girls from our old primary class. They were very cute in their tutus! Fun times.

A Christmas Story

Once upon a time...

...there were 7 raindeers. They all had black noises. One raindeer acsidently fell into a river that has combenashonse of stuff. He was in there for a few hours. Some elves spoted him and they got him out of the river. They dried him off. He was all clean but his nose was blue! The elves freaked out like crazy! The elves ran away. Then Santa came along "hohoho" he said. What do we have here? A blue noised raindeer. What a cuwancidence he said. We've got to wash your nose. When they were washing his nose, the color wouldn't come off. So they had to put him up for sale. But no one bought him. They tried letting him free in the wilderness. But he kept coming back. So they put him in the zoo. There his noise turned back to normal. Every one got bored of him. They threw him into the wild and he got lost. The end!

Merry Christmas from 7yo!
